Our Mission

Acquiring orchestral experience in the earlier years of development benefits young musicians in a variety of ways. It creates collective thinking that builds up a more precise conception of intonation, rhythm, style and phrasing. Playing in an ensemble helps to develop one’s imagination, and the students learn about how musical forms, harmonies, and instrumental colors are put together in a larger-scale composition. We are trying to create in Piney Woods YO a friendly and collegial atmosphere, so that understanding the problematical issues involved in ensemble playing will become easier and ultimately incorporate the enjoyment and involvement that a professional orchestral musician has. We are happy and proud to work with these young talents and we are looking forward to Piney Woods Youth Orchestra’s future development.
