(9) identify common medications which are used for eye conditions, and explain the impact of these and other systemic medications on the visual performance of the student with visual impairments. VIP 2K10
In this learning
activity, you are to make an appointment with an eye care specialist (either
an ophthalmologist or an optometrist) to tour their office. Before you go, you
should be sure that you do two things.
(1) You should go to the All About Vision website
http://www.allaboutvision.com/eye-exam/expect.htm for an excellent overview of what to expect at the doctor's office. Don't to forget to print this material out for you notebook.(2) By clicking on the following icon, you should review and print out the worksheet for this activity.
(3) You should also print out the documentation form, which needs to be signed by the doctor you visit.
If possible, observe
the doctor performing an exam. Ask to specifically see the equipment and medications
that are part of the procedure. If possible, as the doctor to explain how each
is used. DON'T FORGET TO HAVE THE DOCTOR SIGN
YOUR DOCUMENTATION FORM. Hold on to your documentation,
and let your facilitator check it off.
