- Brown-headed nuthatches
- Evolution of cooperative breeding and parental care behavior in birds
- Scrub-jays
- Brown-headed nuthatches
- Bee-eaters
- Ecology and evolution of coloniality in birds
- Blue-tailed bee-eaters on Kinmen Island, Taiwan

Graduate students working with me have examined a diversity of other issues during their thesis research.
